The Texas Veterans Land Board provides both land and home loans (known as the Veterans Housing Assistance Program or VHAP) through lenders and mortgage brokers and sets the rates for these loans. The VHAP also offers an additional interest rate discount to Veterans with a compensable service-connected disability of 50% or greater as verified by an Award Letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The current VHAP rates can be found by clicking here.

Eligibility requirements are similar to those of the VA Loan Program, and the borrower must qualify as a “bona fide resident” of Texas. For detailed information on eligibility for the VHAP click here.

Home Lending Group, Inc is a VHAP participating lender and originates these home loans for Texas Veterans. The guidelines are slightly different from VA Loans. The primary difference is the Texas Veteran Land Board Loans are only available up to $325,000 and they cannot be used to refinance a home.

Since the Texas VHAP and VA Loan Program are similar there is not a separate form for the Texas VHAP. If you would like to consider using a Texas Veterans Land Board Loan to purchase your home please fill out either the Pre-Qualify or Apply Online forms on this website. You can also contact one of our Loan Specialists at (877) 387-9119. Let your Loan Specialist know you are interested in utilizing the Texas Veteran Land Board VHAP program.
